2015 AF Steel Days 5k

Fun and frustrating, all in one.

I was tired after the first quarter of a mile.  I would have thought my overall time would have been worse then the result, but it was roughly the same as my last two 5k's.  It was a nice morning to run.

I had high expectations that I'd be ready for this event.  It went fine, just can't help being a bit disappointed with my time and the effort it took.  I'll use this as a good measuring block for upcoming events, and an honest evaluation of where I am currently at.  Great event though.  All proceeds to to cancer research at BYU.  I enjoyed being there.  I ran this in 2012, and was surprised today at how many more people there were participating.

AF Turkey Trot 5k 2014

After a year since running my last event (Thanksgiving Half Marathon), I finally was able to slowly participate in a 5k run.  A couple months ago the organizers for the the AF Turkey Trot approached us about being the beneficiaries of the 2014 Turkey Trot.  This event has been happening for 6 years now, each year benefiting a local family going through a difficult medical condition.  We were honored and grateful to accept the invitation.  To out pleasant surprise and enjoyment, a large crowd of friend and family showed up to support us, and we all had a fun morning together running around the temple 4 times.  Our family has been so blessed by our community during the past 9 months.  My run was slow when comparing it with runs a year ago, but I did it.  Better times are ahead.

March 10th - September 27th

Running Came to a Stand Still for 6+ Months

Nearly 5 weeks of intubation and mechanical ventilation. No fun.
